Dave was born & raised in the Roanoke Valley, graduated from Salem High School & the University of Virginia School of Engineering.  He was an avid golfer & truly loved all sports.  He coached & was a referee for both girls & boys basketball in the Valley. In 1996 Dave was one of the first inductees into the Salem Educational Foundation & Alumni Association Hall of Fame.
